Description

Creating a New Project (Magic xpi 4.5)

To create a new project:

  1. From the File menu, click New, followed by Project, to open the New Project dialog box.

  2. Enter the project name. The project name cannot start with a number, cannot contain spaces or any special characters, and cannot exceed 30 characters. In addition, the project name only supports English characters.

  3. Enter the location where you want to create your new project.

  4. The solution name is the same as the name that you assign to the new project by default. If the Create directory for solution check box is selected (default), you can change the solution name if required.

  5. Select the Add to Source Control check box if you want to use Source Control with the new project.

  6. Click OK to open the new project, or click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

Note:

  • After you have defined your project information, Magic xpi creates a new folder in the path that you set in the Location field. The folder uses the name you entered in the Name field.

  • If you change the location of a project's folder, you also need to update the path in the ApplicationsList.xml so that the Magic Monitor can locate the project. For more information, click here.

  • When you set up a new project, Magic xpi checks to see if the name already exists in the same location. If the name is already in use, Magic xpi displays an error message prompting you to use a different name. Note that in runtime, a project name is unique.

  • The default project location is under your My Documents directory, in the Magic folder.
