A placeholder for any character.

Instructs Magic xpa to convert the character to upper case.

Instructs Magic xpa to convert the character to lower case.

A placeholder for a digit (0-9) or any of the following symbols ( . , - + * / ).
Note that during data entry, Magic xpa verifies that the user typed a digit in the positions held by #. Any other character typed in these positions is rejected and an error message is issued.

Instructs Magic xpa to move automatically to the next field when the user has entered characters, filling up all of the available space in the current field.
Type Y to add the functional directive A to the variable picture.
Default: No
Platform specific: This directive is not supported for mobile devices.

For variables with Alpha attributes, each X, U, L, or # directive defines the type of character. The sum of Xs, Us, Ls, and #s defines the size of the variable.
