Description

Registering a COM Object (Magic xpa 2.x)

After the object is created, you should register the COM object on the machine intended for its use.

Until it is registered, you will not see the COM object on the COM list.

In one of the last steps in the DLL creation, you were prompted to enter the DLL path. If you stored that path in a text file (or if it is still in the clipboard buffer) you can use that in the next step.

To register the DLL:

  • Run the regsvr32 utility. The easiest way to do this is to type regsvr32 in the Start->Run window, then use paste (Ctrl+V) to copy in the DLL location. You may have to use double quotes around the file name if it contains spaces.

Assuming you typed everything in correctly, a success message appears.

Once the DLL is registered, you can see it when you go to select it for an OLE variable.
